May the force be with you always, Carrie Fisher. Thank you for leaving behind a legacy that will inspire girls for generations to come!
Little Christmas Elf spreading holiday cheer!
We've been having such a blast decorating our home with little Christmas crafts and getting into the holiday spirit for our first Christmas is Prague!
Gift wrap + customizable gift tags & stickers featuring my Nutty Nutcrackers won an Editor's Pick Award for the 2016 "Wrap It Up!" Holiday Challenge on Minted.com and are available HERE in Sugar Plum Pinks + two other colorways.
It can be difficult to envision what an online purchase will look like in "real life." Below you can see how my Cozy Christmas collection in Blue Frost / White Snow / and Red Holly looks mixed and matched together.
Today's Inktober illustration was inspired by the real-life events of checking on Nova during her nap and finding a little unicorn snuggled up to her. I PROMISE I didn't stage this and I have no idea how her stuff animal ended up in such a perfect pose. She must be part fairy or something.
At the end of October, we're embarking on a grand adventure to live abroad in Prague for a year! I plan to post more details soon, but am currently attempting to juggle Inktober, moving preparations, design work and chasing my toddler - heehee.
But here are a few of the questions we've been asked a lot lately:
Why on earth would you WANT to do something like this?
James and I enjoy traveling. When we visit new places and experience other cultures, we come away with new perspectives and a clearer understanding of what we want out of life. We're excited to share this passion with our young daughter, Nova, and hope to give her a greater appreciation for the world she lives in. Only time will tell if this is one of the best decisions we've ever made or a complete disaster, but we knew we would always regret it if we didn't try.
What are you doing for work?
James is a freelance illustrator working primarily for video games and table top games. I'm so proud that he has worked very hard to establish enough of a career and client base that we (on a frugal budget) have the flexibility to choose where we want to live.
After researching several different locations, we found that Prague (at least for now) is one of the "best bangs for the buck." Amazingly beautiful and not nearly as expensive as many other major cities.
An illustration of our souvenirs from a Japanese Student Festival we attended with some very dear friends that work at English Language Institute. Such a fun filled night of games, dancing and learning about a different culture!

This Inktober was inspired by our fun afternoon at a local pumpkin patch with family + the "Five Little Pumpkins" Halloween rhyme we have been singing/saying multiple times each day. I get a kick out of reading seasonal and holiday themed books with Nova and if you have Netflix, would HIGHLY recommend the short film "Room on the Broom" based off the book by Julia Donaldson (Author), Axel Scheffler (Illustrator). I've watched it with her at least half a dozen times and still enjoy it. The animation style and story are so charming!
Above are some of our favorite Halloween books:
1. "Boo!" by Jonathan Litton (Author), Fhiona Galloway (Illustrator) - Nova enjoys the repetitive rhyming and calling out "BOO!" When we play hide-and-seek she requests, "Say BOO to me!"
2. "Wickle Woo Has a Halloween Party" by Nosy Crow (Author), Jannie Ho (Illustrator) - is fascinated with pulling the tabs out and pushing them back in. This book has also inspired her to want to be a pirate for Halloween.
3. "A Very Scary Witch Story" by Joanne Barkan (Author), Jody Wheeler (Illustrator) - this is one of my childhood book and IT GLOWS IN THE DARK! While it's not the greatest piece of literature I've ever read, it's SO FUN!
